SPMS MATH TEAM TRIUMPHS IN MATH FIELD DAY

Over 200 students from 8 middle schools in the San Gabriel Valley gathered at Mark Keppel High School on Saturday, March 13, for the 24th Annual Alhambra Math Field Day.  South Pasadena students placed among the top three in seven of eight events.  Huntington Middle School of San Marino ranked second, and Brightwood Intermediate of Alhambra was third.

The following students were recognized for their outstanding efforts:

Math Speech on Systems of Linear Equations-Emily Pollock(1st)

Advanced Mathematical Concepts-Julie Wu(1st)

Calculator-Anand Kesavaraju(1st)

7th Grade Speed Math-Danny Angel(1st), Bowen Zhang(2nd ), Gloria Lee(3rd)

Chess-Anand Kesavaraju(1st)

Math Terminology-Gilbert Lam(2nd)

8th Grade Speed Math-Alex Wang(3rd)

Also recognized for placing among the top ten in their event were Candice Yen, Jonathan Cheng, Rebecca Tsaur, Hana Kikuchi, Arie Wong, Sam Ettinger, Rachel Gross, Gaelen Stanford-Moore, and Eric Kim.
